Troubleshooting: Microsoft oAuth

Connecting Meeting Ally to your Microsoft account makes signing in effortless and allows your calendar meetings to sync automatically.
Signing in with OAuth uses Microsoft’s built-in security and means one less password to remember.
In rare cases, you may experience issues connecting due to your organization’s Microsoft account configuration. This guide can help point you in the right direction.

What you might see

If this issue occurs, you may experience one or more of the following:
  • “Something went wrong during authentication.”
  • “This account can’t be used to sign in.”
  • You’re redirected back to Meeting Ally without completing the connection
  • The Microsoft sign-in page appears, but the process fails after you approve access

Why this can happen

These issues usually occur when your organization has specific Microsoft sign-in or security settings in place. Common causes include:
  • Your administrator requires approval for all apps and permissions, and Meeting Ally has not yet been approved
  • You’re signing in with a guest account instead of a full organization account
  • Your organization uses a non-standard Microsoft identity setup (such as external identities or federated sign-ins)
  • Your organization uses a restricted or specialized Microsoft cloud environment rather than standard Microsoft 365

What your administrator can check

Ask your Microsoft administrator to review the following:
    User account type
  • Confirm the user is a member of the organization, not a guest
    App permissions
  • Ensure administrator consent has been granted for the application
    Organization sign-in settings
  • Check for policies that restrict third-party app access
  • Review Conditional Access policies (such as MFA or device requirements)
    Identity configuration
  • Verify the account is not routed through an external identity provider that alters sign-ins
    Microsoft cloud environment
  • Confirm whether the organization uses standard Microsoft 365 or a specialized environment (e.g., government or restricted cloud)
